To serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential and to participate in community life.
A community where disability is a distinction without a difference, where individuals will have choices on how they live, learn, work, worship, and play.
For 50 years The Arc Jacksonville has been championing the inclusion of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) within the fabric of the greater Jacksonville community. During an American era engaged with equality and inclusion, The Arc founders embraced those moving from gated institutions to neighborhoods, sought to meet their immediate needs and designed novel educational programs and supportive services to assist their assimilation into society-at-large. This entrepreneurial spirit continues within the volunteer and professional leadership of The Arc today, establishing the organization as an innovative leader among area nonprofit agencies and as a pioneer of new approaches to maximizing the potential for persons with I/DD to achieve independence.
Each day, The Arc helps approximately 400 people discover and unlock the possibilities within themselves. At the same time, agency staff help those who support adults with disabilities make informed choices about services and service providers. Join The Arc Jacksonville’s journey toward the possible.
